Travel Information

TAMPERE is located 175 km north of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Tampere is easily accessible, and there are several ways to reach the town depending on your location and preference.

Directly to Tampere-Pirkkala Airport

Tampere-Pirkkala International Airport is located 20 minutes from Tampere city centre. The airport hosts one of airBaltic’s four bases, and the airline offers direct flights from Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Las Palmas, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Riga, Rhodes, Tallinn and Tenerife (as of 2024).

From Tampere-Pirkkala airport there are good connections to Tampere city centre. The trip takes approx. 15–20 minutes by taxi, and approx. 30–40 minutes by bus.

Travel via Helsinki

There are good flight connections to Finland from all parts of the world. Several international airlines offer regular flights to Helsinki: FINAVIA

From Helsinki Airport there is a train connection via Tikkurila station to Tampere, and the trip takes 1.5–2 hours. See timetables and buy tickets here: VR (NOTE! Train tickets for conference dates are now being sold!)

Buses to Tampere leave outside the airport and run less frequently than the train. Please check: MATKAHUOLTO for bus timetable search. The airport is called Helsinki-Vantaa.
